The mission of World Leadership School is to empower young leaders to find new and innovative approaches to the world's pressing problems. We accomplish our mission by helping K-12 schools develop innovative global education programs through building long-term, family-like relationships with partner schools and communities in Latin America and Africa. These programs begin with a 10-28 day trip during which students and faculty study global issues, work on a service project related to those issues, and go through our leadership training process. We use community service as a platform for teaching global issues and leadership.
After a trip, we help schools deepen their overseas relationships through a combination of Faculty In-Service Trainings, Global Partnerships, Webinars, Shared Community Spaces and Resource Sharing. We help schools integrate these distance learning programs into their curriculum by leveraging the power of both synchronous and asynchronous e-technologies.
Global Partnerships are designed to enrich the curriculum and school culture through long-term global relationships and truly innovative global education programs. Global Partnerships bring international experiences straight into the classroom so that the larger school community is impacted by global learning. Global Partnerships allow schools to go beyond one-time trips to develop long-term, sustainable relationships between school communities. These partnerships are designed to support and enrich existing curriculum in all disciplines, improving rather than disrupting the K-12 curriculum.
WLS's schoolhouse on TakingITGlobal will include both Shared Community Spaces open to all teachers and students, and Course-Specific Virtual Classrooms designed by teachers doing one-on-one educational collaborations. We will also maintain a virtual Teacher Forum for the sharing of resources and success stories between teachers.
